The Latest: Crews make progress against California wildfire

Your country is desolate, Your cities are burned with fire – Isaiah 1:7

200 Structures burnt down & only 10% contained. Fire in New Mexico has been burning for over a month & is still unquenchable.

Factors to Consider:
(1) Drought: Takes 65,000 to 90 thousand gallons of water to put out 1 single structure fire. This water is our toilet water, shower water, drinking water…they are not using ocean water bc the salt from the ocean would damage the soil for generations & also the fires are inland, so it is costly to transport water.

(2) Heat: Makes the fires worse and increases the intensity of the same.

(3) Manpower: There is not enough to combat each fire developing every day.

(4) And finally, the 4th of July celebration is coming up. Tell me, do you think lighting fireworks is wise considering all of our resources are being spent on these fires? As it was in the time of Lot — they also celebrated. As it was in the time of Noah — they also celebrated.

You should not be celebrating…You should be dumping dirt on your heads & mourning. You should be dressed in sackcloth if not literally, figuratively. Distance yourself from the celebrators so come the hardships the Lord looks at you favorably & remembers your grief as it is now.

What am I doing? I’m preparing my ark… shouldn’t you be preparing yours also?
For goodness sake, wise up and repent!

8 p.m.: Firefighters are making progress battling a wildfire in central California that has killed 2 people & burned 200 homes. Federal fire officials say firefighters increased containment from 10% to 40% on Sunday. They took advantage of lighter winds Sunday to establish a perimeter around the 68-square-mile blaze.

The fire began Thursday & tore through small communities of houses & mobile homes in foothills of the southern Sierra Nevada.

4 p.m.: Authorities will provide more information about a fire burning near Pine Valley, Utah, during a community meeting Monday. The meeting is scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. at the Central Fire Department in Central, Utah. The sheriff hasn’t issued any mandatory evacuations yet but has asked residents to be prepared to leave.

The lightning-caused fire didn’t spread very much on Sunday. The fire in the Pine Valley Mountain Wilderness is a little less than 2 square miles.

10:42 a.m.: Fire officials say 200 homes & other buildings have now been destroyed in a deadly wildfire burning in central California. The Kern County Fire Department reports that firefighters were making progress Sunday in establishing a perimeter around the 58-square-mile blaze. Fire officials say most of the flames are now w/in that perimeter.

An elderly couple was found dead after becoming overcome by smoke & authorities say the death toll may rise. Firefighters are hoping to take advantage of lighter winds, but a dry air mass over the area will continue to bring high temperatures & low humidity.

9:17 a.m.: A wildfire that’s been burning in New Mexico for a month has grown to nearly 66 square miles. The fire in the San Mateo Mountains near Magdalena began May 21 & was caused by lightning. It is 69% contained. It’s 1 of 2 major wildfires burning in the state, including a 28-square-mile fire in the Manzano Mountains southeast of Albuquerque that’s now 90% contained.

A little rain helped the 100s of firefighters battling the blaze Saturday.

8:51 a.m.: Firefighters say a ravenous wildfire that has burned 150 homes & claimed at least 2 lives in central California is about 10% contained. Capt. Tyler Townsend of the Kern County Fire Department said Sunday that lower winds a day before had assisted firefighters in battling the blaze. Firefighters were working Sunday to establish a perimeter around the fire. Townsend says fire officials hope to have full containment by June 30th. The wildfire has reduced entire blocks to rubble & threatened at least 2,500 homes.

Officials say an elderly couple was found dead after apparently becoming overcome by smoke. Authorities also found what appears to be a set of human remains in a mobile home Saturday.

About 1,700 firefighters are battling the blaze.

8:37 a.m.: A wildfire burning near Sundance, Wyoming, has destroyed 1 home & more than a dozen outbuildings. Fire officials say the fire grew to 20 square miles Saturday, but intensive work allowed firefighters to get it 50% contained. The fire is located east of the Keyhole Reservoir in northeast Wyoming, near the border w/South Dakota. It started w/lightning on Friday & spread quickly. Authorities closed Interstate 90 between Moorcroft & Sundance for a brief time Saturday to allow firefighters to build a fire line. The highway reopened Saturday evening.
